1. How to delete your account
Umbel is a digital business card, made by South Design (Pty) Ltd, trading as Umbel. This page, at umbel.me/legal/delete-account, says how to delete an Umbel account and everything on it.
Sign in at umbel.me, open Account, then Privacy, and use Delete account. You confirm by typing your handle. If you own a team, make somebody else its Owner or delete the team first.
You can also write to info@umbel.me from the email address on your account, and we will delete it for you.
2. What deletion removes, and what we keep
Deleted: your account and profile, your picture, your cards and the codes and tags that open them, your contacts and your scans, and your sessions and ways of signing in. Your cards stop resolving immediately, and wallet passes already on a phone stop being updated. All of it goes from the live service at once, and from backups and logs within 30 days.
Kept: an anonymised record of the account, with nothing of yours in it, so that the handle you held can never be taken by anyone else; the record of what you paid, for five years, because tax law requires it; and cards owned by a team, which stay with the team.
A plan bought in the App Store or in Google Play is not cancelled by deleting your account. Cancel it in that store, or it will keep renewing.
