Bulk import lets you onboard your entire team in one go. Upload a spreadsheet with your team's details and Umbel generates a card for each person automatically.
Requirements
- An Umbel team plan
- Owner or Admin role
- At least one team template set up
1. Download the CSV template
- Go to your team dashboard and open Team.
- Click Bulk Import.
- Download the provided CSV template.
2. Fill in your team's details
Open the file in Excel or Google Sheets and add a row per team member.

Optional columns — like department, LinkedIn, or website — depend on how your template is configured.
3. Upload and validate
- Back in the Bulk Import screen, upload your completed CSV.
- Umbel validates the data and flags any errors — missing required fields, invalid emails, duplicates.
- Fix anything flagged and re-upload if needed.
4. Assign a template and confirm
- Pick the template to apply to the new cards.
- Review the summary of how many cards will be created.
- Click Create Cards.
Each employee receives an invitation email with a link to access their card. They can edit any fields the template marks as open or mandatory.
Troubleshooting
Some rows were rejected. Check the validation messages — the usual culprits are missing required fields, badly formatted phone numbers, or duplicate emails.
Someone didn't get their invite. Have them check spam, then use Resend Invitation next to their name in the Team section.
