Links are the core of your Umbel card — they connect contacts to your phone, email, socials, website, and anything else you want to share.
The two types of links
Short link buttons — prominent icon buttons near the top of your card. Best for high-priority contact methods like phone, email, WhatsApp, and LinkedIn.
Extended links — a list of links with custom labels and descriptions. Best for portfolios, projects, booking pages, and supplementary resources.
Adding a short link button
- In the card editor, go to the Links section.
- Click Add Button.
- Pick the platform or link type (Phone, Email, WhatsApp, LinkedIn, Instagram, X, Website, and more).
- Enter the URL, phone number, or email address.
The button appears in your card preview immediately.
Add your three or four most important contact methods as buttons. More than five starts to feel cluttered.
Adding an extended link
- In Links, scroll to Extended Links and click Add Link.
- Enter the URL, a title (e.g. "My Portfolio"), and an optional description.
There's no limit on extended links.
Reordering links
Drag the handle next to any link to reorder it. The preview updates in real time. Put your most important links first — contacts are most likely to tap the first one or two items they see.
Editing or removing a link
Use the pencil icon next to a link to edit its URL, label, or description, or the trash icon to remove it.
Platform tips
- Phone: use international format (e.g. +27 82 000 0000) so it works for contacts abroad.
- WhatsApp: use
https://wa.me/27820000000for a link that opens a chat directly. - LinkedIn: use your full profile URL (e.g. linkedin.com/in/yourname).
