Share your card

QR code, direct link, Apple Wallet, or NFC — how each sharing method works and when to use it.

Umbel gives you several ways to share your card depending on the situation. Here's how each one works.

QR code

The QR code is the most common way to share in person.

  1. Open your card from the dashboard and tap the QR Code button.
  2. Your code appears on screen.
  3. Your contact points their phone camera at it, taps the link that appears, and your card opens in their browser.

Best for: networking events, meetings, and conferences. The recipient doesn't need any app.

Direct link

Every Umbel card has a unique URL you can share through any channel.

  1. Open your card in the dashboard.
  2. Use the Copy Link button.
  3. Paste it into an email, WhatsApp message, LinkedIn message, or SMS.

Best for: following up after a meeting, your email signature, or your LinkedIn profile.

Apple Wallet

Save your card to Apple Wallet and your QR code is one swipe away — no app, no unlocking, and it works offline. See Add your card to Apple Wallet for setup steps.

Best for: fast sharing at busy events.

NFC tap

If you have an NFC-enabled physical Umbel card linked to your profile:

  1. Hold the card against the top edge (iPhone) or centre-back (Android) of the recipient's phone.
  2. Their phone detects the tag and shows a notification.
  3. They tap it and your card opens in their browser.

Best for: a memorable, premium first impression. If taps aren't registering, see NFC tap not working.

What the recipient sees

When someone opens your card:

  1. It loads in their mobile browser — no download required.
  2. They can view your details, tap your links, and follow your profiles.
  3. If your action button is Save Contact, they can add you to their address book in one tap. If it's Lead Capture, they can send you their details through your branded form.

Tips

  • Add your card link to your email signature for passive sharing.
  • Put your QR code on conference badges, slides, or printed material.
  • Your card link never changes when you update your details — share it once and it stays current.
